Over the course of 2017 I tried and tested loads of products, from foundation to foot scrubs (ew) but only a few really good ones stuck with me. I guess you could call them my 2017 favourites…and definitely products I will be using well into 2018. #newyearoldme and all that! Here’s a brief breakdown of each one and why I am obsessed with them – and why you should be too.
- Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe
This palette is my all time favourite ever in the history of the word. You can probably see how much I’ve used it judging by the eyeshadow literally being ALL over it but hey, it’s not going to be pristine, not even for this blog haha! The colours are so pigmented, the matte reds and browns are perfect as transition/crease colours, the gold shimmers are amazing for nights out, the blues are good for a pop of colour….I could go on and on. It helps that Jaclyn is one of my favourite Youtubers and I know how hard she worked to get this palette just right. I used it so much in 2017 and I know for a fact this new year isn’t bringing about any changes either. I ❤ you JH and Morphe!
2. James Read Sleep Mask Tan
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice, and I’ll say it louder for the people in the back…I LOVE this tan. I got it in my November Birch Box and have used it soooo much since then. You put it on before bed and it basically tans you as you sleep. It doesn’t have a horrible biscuit smell and literally just feels like any other moisturising product, only it gives your face such an amazing bronzey glow when you wake up. A few people have noticed when I’ve had this on overnight (mainly my grandma but hey) and said that my face looks nice and tanned – which is amazing especially in the winter months! It’s so hard to get tan right on your face and this product does the job amazingly. I’d definitely recommend this product going into 2018 to give you a nice subtle glow!
3. Soap & Glory – Righteous Butter
Either you’ve been living under a rock or have never stepped into Boots during Christmas (all those 3 for 2 Soap & Glory boxes am I right?!) if you don’t know the brand Soap & Glory. They’ve been around for a while now and never fail with their products. For me, I’ve never strayed from this trusty moisturiser and probably never will. It smells gorgeous and stays on all day, long after you’ve showered. One of my goals for 2018 is to start making more time for me, and moisturising using this holy grail product every single day is definitely something I want to tick off the list. If you’ve haven’t tried it yet, what are you doing??
3. Elizavecca Milky Piggy bubble clay mask
Ok so you know the drill, you go into TK Maxx for a browse, get caught up in the beauty product aisle, and end up spending £60 on weird products like snake venom eye creams and Korean bubble clay masks……no? Just me? I got this on one of those splurges as bubble clay masks got very popular towards the end of 2017 and damn I know why. Admittedly it is a bit odd at first applying a mask then ending up looking like a storm cloud in 5 minutes but the results are worth it. My skin always feels so fresh and clean after it and breakouts always seem to calm down. It’s the perfect answer to face masks in 2018, regardless if the bubble mask trend stays or not.
4. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Oil
I heard about this product through my fave Youtuber Jamie Genevieve aka God and I’ve been obsessed ever since I got it for Christmas. I’m really drawn to the fact it uses natural products which not only help me sleep but also leaves my face feeling bright and moisturised the next morning. You only need a tiny bit of the oil and it really does go a long way. The hype is REAL and even though it is slightly more expensive than your high street product, it’s a need for 2018.
And finally…. 5. Mavala Scientifique Nail Hardener
I got this product on Amazon after struggling with nails that were constantly breaking and lacked so much strength it was ridiculous. At first I was confused, how can this tiny little bottle packed with oil possibly help them at all?! But I was pleasantly surprised. It’s so easy to apply (literally just like a nail varnish) and dries in seconds so you can just get on with your day – yay for beauty products with quick routines! It has improved my nail strength massively and now I have nails that I’m proud to own. No more stubby little fingers for me! In 2018 I will be taking this product with me and saying BYE to acrylics and nail extensions.
