Summer In France

So, I’ve FINALLY gotten round to writing my France holiday post. I’ve been teasing it for weeks but I hadn’t even started it yet! Anyway, let’s crack on.

I went to France for a couple of weeks with my boyfriend Ben as he has family out there. We primarily stayed in a more rural part which was so cute and pretty, called Tonnerre. If you ever visit, be sure to go to the shop Deuxieme Vie, it’s gorgeous!

I love France for many reasons: the people, the culture, and the fact I studied French to A Level so practically think I’m one of the locals. The region that we stayed in, Bourgogne (or Burgundy) is famous for their wine and cremant (which is basically champagne but it’s not in the champagne region so they can’t call it that – isn’t France weird). So as you can imagine we totally utilised this fact and long story short, I could get used to drinking wine throughout the whole day.

The whole area was so beautiful and it was really nice to be able to chill out after a busy year. It also made me want to keep practising French to keep up with the locals!

We were also lucky enough to be there for the World Cup and actually watched the final at Auxerre Stadium. The atmosphere was unreal and I’m so lucky we were able to experience that. Also in Auxerre I scavenged a Sephora (obviously) and bought an amazing Fenty Beauty lipstick and Pixi Glow Tonic, which I had been lusting after for aaages.

Where we stayed was also only a 2 hour drive from Disneyland Paris and as I’m sure you all know, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to visit. It was so amazing to be there with Ben and no joke, going to Disneyland with a boyfriend has been on my bucket list since I could write. We had an amazing day and according to my Apple Watch we walked almost 9 miles throughout the day so win win!

It was an expensive visit as you can all imagine, but if you’re looking to save some dolla, we stayed over at the Ibis in Val D’Europe, literally only one train stop away from Disneyland Paris. It was so cheap and convenient and saves you from the expense of a Disney hotel! Thankfully I’ve stayed in a Disney hotel before so I could pass up on it this time…..ok yes I am Disney snob.

As well as Disneyland, we also attended the Lollapalooza festival in the centre of Paris. Mainly to see the Killers again, but also because the line up was so good and we’d be silly to miss it, being so close to Paris. It was such a good festival and as it wasn’t camping, it was a very civilised event with people heading home when they were supposed to and not petrol bombing tents. It also gave me a chance to put on some fancy makeup and festival chic outfits, as before then I’d just been rocking the no makeup and summer dress look.

Once the festival was over we had a day in Paris and damn did we use this day for all it had. It also happened to be one of the hottest days of the whole summer so I was absolutely SWEATING and kept having to stop for a sit down, grandma style. Our plan for the day was to basically see all the sights (and I mean ALL the sights). We didn’t have enough time, energy, patience or sweat glands to queue for anything so we basically travelled around to everywhere taking selfies and admiring the view, then moving on. We had both seen Paris before so I totally don’t regret doing it this way. In the one day we managed to pack in the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Champs Elysee, a look through the Mulberry shop window, Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame, Pont Neuf, Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. The only thing we didn’t see was the Arc De Triomphe but let’s face it…it’s just a fancy roundabout isn’t it.

By the end, we were absolutely exhausted but it was a great way to round off our whole trip. I wish I could have stayed in France for longer because I absolutely love the country, but alas work and real life beckoned.

Have you ever been to France? Did you love it? Let me know.

All my love! X
